Welfare case update-overgrown hooves
Posted by on Jan 30, 2009 in Association News, Hoofcare, Horses, Welfare | 0 commentsLast September we had a report of a pony having extremely overgrown hooves. The pony’s condition apart from the hooves was very good. After contacting the local Maire of the commune, we found out who owned the pony and approached the owner to see if we could help. Not all owners are approachable, but in this case we were able to offer some advice and contact details of a local farrier stressing in a polite but forceful way why this was now urgent and unacceptable. The owner did contact the farrier and the pony has now had his feet trimmed with the farrier advising that he will need a trim every month to help correct the damage that has been done by leaving them for so long.
Here is the pony then…
And now…..
