Update on WSPA campaign
Posted by on Jul 23, 2008 in Campaigns | 0 commentsThis week we received a letter from the WSPA thanking us for our participation in the Handle with Care campaign highlighting the terrible long haul export of sheep out of Australia.
ERF are always glad to be able to participate in such important matters, here is the latest update we have received from the WSPA…….
“Over 20,000 letters/e-mails were sent by members of the public to embassies in many countries around the world. They ranged from the USA to Nepal, Hungary, South Africa, UK and Australia to name a few. We are still compiling all the data and there is no doubt that the number of people taking action will increase but I just wanted to update you on this initial response. It didn’t take long for embassies to respond to the action and their message seemed to be the same; they pledged to improve conditions and investing more money to improve the welfare of the animals transported. This is a step forward but we still want this cruel trade to be stopped. We will certainly be taking further steps to progress further on this campaign.”
