Such a difficult post to write ….. sleep tight Leo.

Last week we took the saddest of decisions to let the gentle Leo take his final journey.
He came to me with a dreadful injury in early 2009, and was so brave whilst I did all sorts of treatments to try and heal him.
His story is here: http://www.equinerescuefrance.org/erf-equines/2010-2/leon/
We went through hell and high water between us, and although I couldn’t fix him forever, he was fixed enough to have another few years of retirement, with guardians that loved him dearly.
He got to be a horse, living out his days playing with his friends and wanting for nothing. How many are that lucky?
The morning he left us he had the biggest feed, a couple of hours in a fresh grassy paddock with the morning sun on his back and his friends beside him. He went quickly and peacefully, without any idea what was happening.
He leaves a great big hole in my heart.
Sleep tight, my lovely Leo.
