Lily and Marcy looking for a forever home
Posted by on Aug 27, 2011 in ERF rescues | 3 commentsERF rescued Trotter mares, Lily and Marcy, are once again looking for their forever home. You can read their story here of when we originally rescued them from shocking conditions and their subsequent rehoming in January last year here.
Very sadly, and to our disgust and dismay, their new adopter did not give these beautiful horses the care and attention they needed and flouted the conditions of our adoption contract, under which we place all our equines. ERF swiftly intervened by taking Lily and Marcy back into ERF care where they were placed under the watchful eye of ERF volunteer and fosterer Lizzie, to receive some much needed care and attention.
A few months down the road and the mares are now ready to be rehomed and we are looking for an extra special home for these 2 girls. They are both very kind natured and good to do. Due to their previous neglect it’s unlikey that they could be ridden in the future and so we are looking to rehome them together as companions to live out their days in peace where they will receive plenty of TLC.
Please contact us asap if you feel you could offer Lily and Marcy their forever home, these girls really do deserve some luck in their lives now!
Good for you for coming back to their rescue. I hope they get a deserving home.
We own a rescue centre that wor with horses across the UK , it is so sad, we have turned around so many in 7, years, never back to the system, but onto sanctuarys where they do not have to pay for their treatment as we have fixed them first, from phsycoligical to physical trauma…..from 6, months to 2 yrs, dependent on what they have been through, what they have wrong – kissing spine -hunters bump, cracks up to coronary bands, infections through system & vulva, excellent pedigree constant breeding, non nurturing of mare, diestema, – we privately spend £60,000 + per annum on rehabilitation (our own money – we work to give back as it was a horse that saved me fro permanent disability in my teen years…….world WAKE UP – we all feel down, bleed, feel – so do they – I have horses that know by the way I look at them what we want to do together – work to voice commands – a partnership – I have horses just now that arrived with me on a Saturday, due to be shot on the Monday – where the conditions they were kept in caused canker in all 4, feet – I said no, if it hasnt reached navicular bone, it can be cured, and we have, they have no voice, it is to easy to weigh cost against cure – Stop this and Voice now – I (we) have never said no – we are a private home – rehabilitation centre that has no funding – although we need it – we have had no failures and rehabilitate and resuce, CURE and then send to sanctuarys where they never end up in system again. If you have a challenge talk to Ellie 01988 850755 should you feel this is your only solution. It isnt – if you can help call too – We have astounding results and have years of natural horsemanship experience behind us and NO failures. I commend the work that this rescue centre in France is doing and we need greater awareness of plight and how magnificent these animals are and the bond that can be created between you and a horse.
Where is your rehabilitation centre in the UK Bowden Andy? It sounds like you do amazing work and are truly dedicated to the welfare of the horses. Are you able to collect horses that require rehoming?
