Corran Ard, Leo, Daisy and Dora.
Posted by on Jun 11, 2011 in Association News | 0 commentsBack on the homechecking travels yesterday, and off to see Daisy and Dora. It’s lovely to see how their guardians are so diligent in the way they care for them. The donkeys have various ‘rooms’ in the barn to choose from, including a choice of beds in the section nearest the house. Every evening, they come up the hill and shout for their supper, and are never disappointed.
I think they were less than impressed to see me – I suspect they may have been worried I was going to steal them away from their little piece of donkey heaven!
Corrie and Leo deserve an update as well, although as they are not too far from me I see them fairly regularly. Both are looking fantastic, it’s a shame the day was damp and cloudy because the shine on their coats was not picked up by the camera.
What a life of luxury they have – a huge field to graze in, a barn to come into at liberty to escape the heat or rain and palatial stables for the winter. A far cry from where Corrie was a year ago, neglected and confined in a meat farm in France awaiting his likely fate of a lorry to Italy.
I hope those responsible for sending/transporting him to France as a meat horse and putting him through all the misery and suffering that entailed feel ashamed, but somehow I doubt it. He’s sadly just one whose fate was discovered out of far too many who have simply disappeared.
Please keep supporting us in our fight to reduce or even stop the live transport of animals to slaughter.
