Today we went and collected Ossie, a 20 yr old New Forest gelding, who has come into ERF to find an adoptive family to live out the rest of his days with.
He is a very spritely chap who still enjoys hacks out, but he apparently isn’t a childs 1st pony. We’ll keep you updated on his progress over the next few weeks and if you’d like to be considered as an adopter for Ossie then...

Two female Poitou donkeys, that are native to our region here, have arrived at The Philadelphia zoo in Pennsylvania. Nike and periwinkle will no doubt be a great visitor attraction at this popular zoo, which is home to many rare and endangered species of animals.

This week we started the backing process on ERF mule, Mimi.
So far so good…..she’s accepted saddle plus crupper, bridle with bit, long reins and tonight I lent over her for a few seconds. We are thrilled she is turning from a mule with ‘Attitude’ into a sweet little mule at long last!

A saddle that we could borrow/have to fit Mimi the mule whilst we are backing her?
Being barrel-like with no withers, we are having trouble getting any saddle to stay on her back and not up by her ears! We probably need a crupper on her too, so the ring on the back for that would also be useful.
